Jimmy Kimmel & Jason Schwartz Q & A # 10 about The Urantia Book
Summary & Transcript Below…
[00:34 → 02:09] Introduction and Overview of the Show and Topic
The program opens with an emphasis on interactive learning through questions and answers, highlighting a dynamic and participatory style reminiscent of Jesus teaching his apostles. The hosts, Reverend James Kimmel and Jason Schwartz, introduce the show as an evolving talk format, now at its tenth episode, exploring diverse topics from the Urantia Book. The main subject for this session is the “Kingdom of Heaven,” examining its nature and location as presented in the Urantia text, a spiritual and philosophical book published in 1955. The hosts stress the expansive and profound nature of the Urantia Book, positioning it as a source answering many spiritual questions, including the mystery of the Kingdom of Heaven.
[02:09 → 04:33] Defining the Kingdom of Heaven: Internal and Universal Perspectives
The Kingdom of Heaven is framed as an internal reality, existing wherever God is present, supporting Jesus’ teaching that “the kingdom of heaven is within you.” This concept invites believers to recognize divine governance as a spiritual brotherhood among mankind rather than a physical location. The hosts emphasize that the Kingdom of Heaven functions as a “divine government” of spiritual fellowship, transcending earthly institutions. The kingdom is described as the will of God prevailing dominantly and transcendentally in the believer’s heart. This internalization highlights personal faith and spiritual governance rather than external rituals or places.
[04:33 → 06:59] Jesus’ Teaching on the Essentials of the Kingdom of Heaven (Paper 140)
The discussion turns to Paper 140 of the Urantia Book, titled “The Ordination of the Twelve Apostles,” where the Apostle John asks Jesus to define the Kingdom of Heaven. Jesus outlines three essentials: recognition of God’s sovereignty, belief in sonship with God, and faith in the supreme human desire to do God’s will and emulate God. This teaching distills salvation to faith and spiritual alignment rather than legalistic or ritualistic works. The hosts note this is a crucial doctrine often missing or misunderstood in mainstream Christian paradigms, and the Urantia Book fills this gap with extensive background and clarification. Paper 140 is presented as a vital resource for Christians seeking deeper spiritual understanding.
[07:48 → 09:54] Jesus’ Ordination Speech to the Apostles About the Kingdom
Jesus addresses the twelve apostles before their ordination, declaring the arrival of the kingdom’s hour and their role as ambassadors. He describes the kingdom as a new divine dominion set to reside in the hearts of those desiring to do God’s will. Jesus makes clear the kingdom transcends ethnic or national boundaries, welcoming all who seek spiritual brotherhood, including Gentiles and Jews alike. The kingdom’s power is spiritual, rooted in divine truth and love, not military might or material wealth. Its defining battle cry is “peace on earth and good will to all men,” emphasizing nonviolence and universal fellowship.
[10:25 → 13:08] Faith, Works, and the Progression of the Kingdom
Faith is underscored as the gateway into the kingdom, but it must be accompanied by the “fruits of the Father’s Spirit” for continued spiritual progression. Jesus warns that verbal profession alone is insufficient; the true measure is obedience to God’s will. The message to the world emphasizes seeking first the kingdom and righteousness, promising that all essential things for eternal survival will follow. Jesus clarifies that the kingdom will not come with grand external displays but is an inward spiritual reality—God within. Greatness in the kingdom is defined by service and humility, and kingdom citizens are sons rather than servants, reflecting deep spiritual adoption.
[13:08 → 16:33] Jesus’ Prayer and Ordination of the Apostles
Jesus prays over the twelve apostles, asking the Father to bless and endow them with wisdom to manage the kingdom’s affairs. This solemn moment signifies the transfer of responsibility for the divine brotherhood’s future to human agents. The apostles respond with reverent silence and embrace, underscoring the gravity of their mission. Celestial beings witness this sacred ordination, highlighting the cosmic significance of entrusting divine governance to mortal minds. This scene portrays a divine-human partnership in advancing spiritual government on Earth.
[17:03 → 18:34] Invitation to Participate and Broader Community Engagement
The hosts invite viewers to engage more deeply, whether by joining the show’s crew, calling in with questions, or sponsoring the program. They emphasize the community and inclusive nature of their teaching. The conversation transitions to a reflection on their physical location in Maui, Hawaii, humorously dubbing it the “Maui Branch of the Kingdom of Heaven,” setting the stage for exploring the intersection of spiritual kingdom concepts with real-world political and historical issues specific to Hawaii.
[18:34 → 22:14] Historical Context: The Kingdom of Hawaii and Its Overthrow
The discussion moves into Hawaiian history, specifically the overthrow of the Kingdom of Hawaii in 1893, highlighting Queen Liliuokalani’s official protest to the U.S. government. This protest is characterized as a powerful spiritual and political document invoking the justice of the “almighty ruler of the universe” — the same Creator recognized by the U.S. Declaration of Independence. The overthrow, deemed illegal under international law and U.S. constitutional law (which protects treaties as supreme law), violated both Hawaiian sovereignty and American legal principles. This segment illustrates the tension between earthly political maneuvers and divine justice.
[22:14 → 25:08] Public Law 103-150 and the Hawaiian Sovereignty Movement
Public Law 103-150, signed by President Clinton in 1993, is discussed as a formal U.S. apology acknowledging the illegal overthrow of Hawaii’s government after 100 years of exile. This law allowed the indigenous Kanaka Maoli people to begin restoring their lawful government. However, the hosts critique subsequent political efforts, such as the Akaka Bill, as deceptive attempts to maintain control over Hawaiian land and rights without full restoration of sovereignty. They emphasize the unresolved injustices and ongoing struggles for Hawaiian self-determination.
[25:08 → 27:39] Linking the Kingdom of Hawaii to the Kingdom of Heaven
The hosts explain how the reinstatement of the Kingdom of Hawaii spiritually inspired a parallel effort to reinstate the Kingdom of Heaven on Earth. This connection is rooted in the teachings of the Urantia Book and the mission of the “Prince of Peace” (Jesus), emphasizing divine will and justice manifesting in human affairs. The speaker recounts personal history involving the Hawaiian sovereignty movement beginning in the early 1970s, noting the spiritual and political awakening tied to understanding Hawaii’s historical struggles and the Urantia Book’s revelations.
[27:39 → 31:04] Personal Family History and Hawaiian Political Intrigue
A poignant revelation emerges as one host shares the discovery that his wife’s great-grandfather, A.S. Hartwell, served as the Attorney General for the Kingdom of Hawaii and later as legal counsel for the conspirators who orchestrated the overthrow. Hartwell’s role in drafting documents facilitating the illegal transfer of power implicates him in treason against the Hawaiian monarchy. This personal connection deepens the discussion on the complexity of Hawaiian history and the betrayal experienced by the native people, highlighting the real human costs behind political events.
[31:04 → 34:18] Broader Reflections on History, Spirituality, and Global Crisis
The conversation broadens to reflect on humanity’s collective failures over two millennia since Jesus’ teachings, noting a trajectory toward potential global destruction due to unresolved sin, injustice, and rebellion. The analogy of the Mayan calendar’s end signals a pivotal moment for course correction. The overthrow of Hawaii is cited as a microcosm of colonialist patterns replicated worldwide. The passage of Public Law 103-150 symbolizes a spirit of truth working through political systems, suggesting divine influence guiding humanity toward restoration and peace.
[34:18 → 36:29] Divine Intervention and the Mission of the Urantia Book
The Urantia Book is presented as a critical instrument in humanity’s rescue from self-destruction, providing the knowledge and spiritual framework necessary to comprehend and address prevailing global problems. The hosts emphasize that divine intervention, through spiritual truth and revelation, is unfolding even when unnoticed by human actors. The reinstatement of Hawaiian sovereignty is interpreted as a manifestation of this spiritual guidance, linking political events to a larger cosmic purpose of peace and brotherhood.
[36:29 → 41:47] Ambassadors of the Heavenly Kingdom: Responsibilities and Teachings
Returning to Paper 140, the hosts read further passages where Jesus charges the apostles with living as citizens of a heavenly country, distinct from worldly men. This role carries heightened expectations and responsibilities. The apostles are to proclaim liberty, joy, healing, and spiritual comfort, embodying the Beatitudes as practical guidelines for kingdom living: humility, righteousness, meekness, mercy, peacemaking, and endurance through persecution. The teaching stresses that living these principles authentically brings spiritual rewards and recognition as “sons of God.”
[41:47 → 42:44] The Golden Rule and Non-Resistance to Injustice
Jesus’ instruction to love enemies, do good to haters, bless those who curse, and pray for persecutors is highlighted as the essence of the golden rule. This ethic of non-resistance and active love distinguishes kingdom citizens. The hosts note this teaching’s foundational role in Christian ethics and its reaffirmation in the Urantia Book, encouraging inward transformation rather than outward confrontation.
[42:44 → 45:16] Closing Reflections and Invitation for Audience Participation
The hosts conclude by expressing hope that the Urantia Book will reach a wider audience, especially among Christians seeking deeper spiritual understanding. They announce plans for future interactive live call-in shows to foster dialogue and questions, emphasizing inclusiveness and peace. The conversation closes on a hopeful note, affirming that embracing love for self and others as God loves us can bring about heaven on earth. The hosts thank the audience, express mutual appreciation, and look forward to continued engagement with the community.
Summary:
This episode explores the Urantia Book’s profound teachings about the Kingdom of Heaven, emphasizing its spiritual and internal nature as the divine government of a universal brotherhood. Using Paper 140, “The Ordination of the Twelve Apostles,” it elaborates on the core principles Jesus taught about faith, service, and living the kingdom’s ideals. The hosts connect these spiritual insights to the historical and political saga of Hawaii’s overthrow and subsequent sovereignty movement, viewing these events as earthly manifestations of divine justice and the Spirit of Truth. Personal narratives deepen the connection between cosmic principles and lived history. The show ultimately calls for spiritual awakening, peaceful service, and active participation in the restoration of both Hawaiian sovereignty and the heavenly kingdom on Earth, inviting audience involvement in this transformative mission.
00:34
Quote, he invariably taught his apostles by questions and answers. That’s kind of learning that we’re doing now. He’s had to learn rather than having a preacher. That’s right. I don’t care how much you know, but if you tell me what you don’t know by asking a question, then God will reveal it to me so I can reveal it to you. Interactive call and talk show television. Hey everybody, this is Jim Kimmel, Reverend James Kimmel.
01:04
I’m Jason Schwartz. You know, this is the 10th show. Each time we come on with different shirts in different places, because sometimes people
think, oh, you’re talking about the same thing. This is a big book. There’s a lot of subject we’re covering.
01:19
And we’re going to be doing a call-in talk show. In fact, some of you that will want to be on the crew, some will want to be calling and asking questions. Some will want to be sponsors. We don’t really know what you’d like. But I’ll tell you one thing. I’m liking. This has been 10 shows. It’s been good. Thank you. Very good. Today, I think I’d like to ask you a question that’s sort of a general one. Where…
01:46
But where? Where is the kingdom of heaven? Where is the kingdom of heaven? Now, we’re going to look in the Urantia book. This is the Urantia book. Many of you who’ve watched these before, but some now haven’t. The Urantia book came from, written, if you will, delivered to us as a book in Chicago and got published.
02:09
Then later in 1955. 1955 it was released. Okay. So, today we’re going to look at the Kingdom of Heaven. This book, you once said to me, you know, it answered a lot of questions. In fact, all the questions you’d want to ask are in this book. That’s right. I agree with that. So, that’s today’s question. What is the Kingdom of Heaven? Where? Where is the Kingdom of Heaven? Well, let me ask you a question in return. Would you agree that Heaven would have to be everywhere God is, or anywhere that God is?
02:39
yes well then that’s why Jesus taught the kingdom of heaven is within you because that’s where God is within you and me and each of you well you don’t have to go to church you’re in the kingdom of heaven if you care to look inside it’s all there
03:04
You can go to church if you want. Of course. But it’s a matter of understanding and appreciating what you just said. So the kingdom of heaven is within. The kingdom of heaven is like an association of men and women as fellows of a brotherhood of everybody. Did Jesus have anything to say about that? Jesus is the founder of the kingdom of heaven on earth.
03:27
The kingdom of heaven on earth. The kingdom of heaven on earth. The kingdom of heaven is the divine government of the spiritual brotherhood of all mankind. Let’s hear and get that significant. The divine government. The kingdom of heaven is the divine government of the spiritual brotherhood of all mankind. Okay, I can have that. And the kingdom of God is the will of God.
03:58
Dominant and transcendent in the heart of the believer. Dominant and transcendent, meaning… It’s above everything. I see. Okay. In the heart of the believer. That’s well put. Dominant and transcendent in the heart of the believer, which is each of us. Right. Okay. I like this. That’s great. Then, like the Apostle John asked a question…
04:33
a beginning apostle. He asked John… What paper are we on? This is the ordination of the twelve. The ordination of the twelve apostles. So it’s paper… 140. The end of 140. Okay. Good. John asked Jesus, Master, what is the kingdom of heaven?
05:02
Jesus answered the kingdom of heaven consists of these three essentials First recognition of the fact of the sovereignty of God Second belief in the truth of sonship with God and third faith in the effectiveness of the supreme human desire to do the will of God and
05:31
to be like God. And by faith, and this is the good news of the gospel, that by faith every mortal may have all these essentials of salvation. I’m going to boil it down here. So, that is the equation of salvation, rather than you have to be born…
05:59
I’m just saying, what I understand, sometimes Christians, they feel like they have to give, they have to do this, or they’re going to somehow be left out of the salvation part. But there was the salvation part, right at the end of paper 140. Paper 140. This paper is fantastic. It’s titled, The Ordination of the Twelve Apostles. You can leave that there. Okay. Fold it again or not? Yeah. That’s okay.
06:30
I was wondering how you keep good track of this. Wow. The Ordination of the Twelve Apostles. This paper titled The Ordination of the Twelve Apostles is phenomenal. And it’s really… Our Christian brothers and sisters have to become acquainted with this. There’s so much background and information that goes beyond what anybody could ever get from reading the Bible 10,000 times.
06:59
If there’s stuff missing, you don’t know it’s missing. And this is what is missing from so much of the mentality of the Christian paradigm today. Well, I think that’s part of the great reason why we’re here, to introduce it to the people that are already reading and interested. You know, they say in sales,
07:24
People like to buy, but they don’t like to be sold. So that’s a very big point. If you find someone that already has something in agreement. So I would think that many Christians out there would hear about the ordination of the 12 and be, you know, finding it’s really something to read and explore. That’s great. You don’t have to sell them on it. They already know the subject. That’s great.
07:48
Before the formal ordination service, Jesus spoke to the twelve as they were seated about him. My brethren, this hour of the kingdom has come.
08:00
I have brought you apart here with me to present you to the Father as ambassadors of the kingdom. Some of you heard me speak of this kingdom in the synagogue when you first were called. Each of you has learned more about the Father’s kingdom since you have been with me working in the cities around about the Sea of Galilee. But just now I have something more to tell you concerning this kingdom. This new kingdom, which my Father is about to set up in the hearts of his earth children,
08:30
is to be an everlasting dominion. There shall be no end of this rule of my Father in the hearts of those who desire to do his divine will. I declare to you that my Father is not the God of Jew or Gentile. Many shall come from the east and from the west to sit down with us in the Father’s kingdom, while many of the children of Abraham will refuse to enter this new brotherhood
08:58
of the rule of the Father’s Spirit in the hearts of the children of men. The power of this kingdom shall consist not in the strength of armies nor in the might of riches, but rather in the glory of the divine Spirit that shall come to teach the minds and rule the hearts of the reborn citizens of this heavenly kingdom, the sons of God.
09:25
Well, that’s really nicely put. This is the brotherhood of love wherein righteousness reigns and whose battle cry shall be peace on earth and good will to all men. Whose battle cry shall be peace on earth. Amen. This kingdom which you are so soon to go forth proclaiming is the desire of the good men of all ages.
09:54
the hope of all the earth, and the fulfillment of the wise promises of all the prophets. But for you, my children, and for all others who would follow you into this kingdom, there is set a severe test. Faith alone will pass you through its portals, but you must bring forth the fruits of my Father’s Spirit if you would continue to ascend in the progressive life of the divine fellowship
10:25
Verily, verily, I say to you, not everyone who says, Lord, Lord, shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but rather he who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. Your message to the world shall be, seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and finding these all other things,
10:51
essential to eternal survival shall be secured therewith. You know, when I hear that, I think people have to really somehow settle in the fact that they will do the right thing and things will be right and that they just come from that place and everything will work out and manifest. That’s right. Wow. These are powerful words. Oh, yeah. Extraordinary. Wow.
11:21
Please continue. And now would I make it plain to you that this kingdom of my Father will not come with an outward show of power or with unseemly demonstration. You are to not go hence in the proclamation of the kingdom, saying, It is here or it is there, for this kingdom of which you preach is God within you. Whosoever would become great in my Father’s kingdom shall become a minister to all.
11:52
and whosoever would be first among you, let him become the server of his brethren. For when you were once truly received as citizens in the heavenly kingdom, you were no longer servants, but sons, sons of the living God. And so shall this kingdom progress in the world until it shall break down every barrier and bring all men to know my Father,
12:19
and believe in the saving truth which I have come to declare. And even now is the kingdom at hand, and some of you will not die until you have seen the reign of God come in great power. And this which your eyes now behold, this small beginning of twelve commonplace men, shall multiply and grow until eventually the whole world
12:44
shall be filled with the praise of my Father. And it will not be so much by the words you speak as by the lives you live that men will know you have been with me and have learned of the realities of the kingdom. And while I would lay no grievous burdens upon your minds, I am about to put upon your souls the solemn responsibility of representing me in the world
13:08
When I shall presently leave you, as I now represent my Father in this life, which I am living in the flesh. Now, when I hear that, I think to myself, Jesus is saying to them, look, when I go, you guys have to live what I said.
13:33
Right? Not just teach that I exist. You have to live the way I’ve said. So now, if you were to look in the regular Bible, I don’t know, I guess you guys will tell me there’s lots of Bibles. Those are the words of Jesus, right? How do they compare? Have you looked ever to see how they compare? Oh, some are close, some are not. Some are not even his.
14:00
Okay, wow, okay, okay. Because that sure sounds like Jesus to me. Yeah, well, yeah. And there’s nothing except positive in that. It’s close enough to recognize some of the truths he was sharing was pretty close.
14:16
You got it down pretty good. The reason I’m asking was… But it’s the other stuff that’s missing. Well, that’s what’s exciting about this. The background. This is like a piece of crusty bread, and you take peanut butter and it fills in all the holes and crevices. You’re wondering, what about the… Wow. Yeah. Yeah.
14:40
This is the Ordination of the Twelve. The Ordination of the Twelve. What is it, I don’t know, 10 pages, 20 pages, something like that? Something like that. Okay. Jesus now instructed the twelve mortals who had just listened to his declaration concerning the kingdom to kneel in a circle about him. Then the master placed his hands on the head of each apostle, beginning with Judas Iscariot and ending with Andrew.
15:07
When he had blessed them, he extended his hands and prayed, My father, I now bring to you these men, my messengers. From among our children on earth, I have chosen these twelve to go forth to represent me as I came forth to represent you. Love them and be with them as you have loved and been with me. And now, my father, give these men wisdom
15:34
as I place all the affairs of the coming kingdom in their hands. And I would, if it is your will, tarry on earth a time to help them in their labors for the kingdom. And again, my Father, I thank you for these men, and I commit them to your keeping while I go on to finish the work you have given me to do. When Jesus had finished praying, the apostles responded,
16:04
And it was many minutes before even Peter dared lift up his eyes to look upon the Master. One by one they embraced Jesus, but no man said aught. A great silence pervaded the scene, while a host of celestial beings looked down upon this solemn and sacred scene, the creator of a universe, placing the affairs of the divine brotherhood of man
16:33
under the direction of human minds. Wow, that’s a powerful line. So, we’re getting this vision of what just happened, which is the creator of the local universe, like handing over the reins to the humans, right? Exactly. It’s like, okay guys, this is your job. Bye, I’m going. Remember, my thing. Okay, okay. So,
17:03
Well, this is exciting. It is fabulous. Wow. It really is. I know that you meet people and have a service. Every Sunday morning. A service? What do you call it? Education, teaching? Reading. I’m reading on the book. Sunday morning, what, 10ish or so? Around 10, yeah. Okay, well, you guys can get in touch if you want to come. Come on by.
17:31
I wouldn’t be surprised that if some of you would want to have a location and host us, we’d go and do a show somewhere. I’d be happy to come to your place. Jim, there’s so much to share here. It’s such an exciting thing. The kingdom of heaven is within. And, I don’t know if this is the right segue, but we’re sitting here in Maui, Hawaii.
18:03
It’s beautiful here. I call it the Maui Branch of the Kingdom of Heaven. The Maui Branch of the Kingdom of Heaven. I like that. Hi, we’re calling you, we’re from the Maui Branch. The Kingdom of Hawaii. Many, you know, heard the story from many people about the overthrow and how it happened and what it means. Again, I’m asking the book, I’m asking you,
18:34
How does the Kingdom of Heaven relate to the Kingdom of Hawaii? Interesting question, I must say. It is a very good question because it has to do with the purpose of the Prince of Peace. Okay, which was Jesus. Yeah. Okay. As that all relates to the will of God, who’s our Father. Okay.
19:01
And it has to do with the outworking of the will of our Father as it relates to Queen Liliuokalani, who appealed to God in 1897 in her official protest of the overthrow of her government to the U.S. government. Her official protest is a fantastic document.
19:26
And it reveals a spiritual, it brings into focus the spiritual jurisdiction of the nations of the world. That’s a great word, spiritual jurisdiction. Yeah. Of the nations. Well, she goes through her whole document of official protest and ends with one line that says, and to the almighty ruler of the universe.
19:52
To him who judges righteously, I commit my cause. Now that’s the same person the Americans all recognize as their creator, quote, in the Declaration of Independence, and also in the Declaration of Independence as the supreme judge of the world, to whom they looked for the rectitude of their intentions. So you have here the sovereign of one nation
20:22
appealing to the creator of the universe who is supposed to be recognized by the nation of people who have overthrown the kingdom of Hawaii by an illegal act of war on January 17, 1893. So by virtue of the fact history reveals that Hawaii was an independent nation
20:50
independent nation among nations in the 1700s and 1800s and was overthrown by the U.S. government and other interests in 1893. 17th of January. 17th of January. So now, in order for that to take place, the U.S. government had to violate its own constitution because the U.S. constitution
21:19
Defines the supreme law of the land and that includes all treaties made or which shall be made under the authority of the United States All trees are part of the supreme law of the land. Okay, so you can’t break your own law But they did They went from the east coast to the west coast and after they got to the west coast. They came out here and
21:45
And continue to violate the golden rule and do to others what they would never want done to themselves. So there you just basically just exercised, you basically shared how the Hawaiian people feel that the United States created a travesty because they did not follow their own rules.
22:14
But the other point is, how does that relate to the Kingdom of Heaven? That’s what I’m asking. Okay, well now, the Kingdom of Hawaii was in exile from 1893 until 1993, when President Clinton signed and the US Congress passed Public Law 103-150, the so-called apology bill.
22:44
So after 100 years following the overthrow, 100 years after the overthrow, the U.S. government passed Public Law 103-150 and admitted that by an illegal act of war that a friendly government was overthrown. And so they said, yes, we broke our own rules. We are sorry.
23:09
That’s the apology, right? Yeah, the apology. They had to admit the whole thing that went down under international law in order to have the legal right to sell the property that was stolen from the overthrow. Millions of acres were stolen, and you know you can’t sell stolen property.
23:36
So the people having control over Hawaii have had trouble getting all the stolen property sold. There’s been a lot of stuff sold through deception and illegality and all kinds of unpleasantness. But the kingdom of Hawaii was reinstated. The kingdom of Hawaii went into exile in 1893. And 100 years later, it was brought out of exile.
24:05
as a consequence of the passage of Public Law 103-150, which gave to the Hawaiian people, the indigenous Kanaka Maoli people, the right to bring their lawful government out of exile under international and kingdom law. That was all enabled by the passage of Public Law 103, because it was passed for the purpose of getting
24:35
It was passed for the purpose of getting adverse possession over the stolen lands. That way they could sell it. So the fact that they weren’t honest and sincere in their apology is proved by the fact of the Akaka Bill, which is another deceitful, it’s an act of seditious conspiracy to maintain control and power over the Hawaiian people
25:02
while depriving them of all their inherent rights as the sovereign nation. Wow.
25:08
If they had been honest and sincere, they’d have given the horse back. They stole the horse. Right. You admit you stole the horse? Well, give me it back. It’s cool. I’ll forgive you. So that’s a different subject for exploration. That would be an interesting dialogue. We’ll get someone out here with you. Well, the reinstatement of the kingdom of Hawaii inspired me to reinstate the kingdom of heaven in the reinstatement of the kingdom of Hawaii. So explain that, because that’s interesting.
25:37
The fact that there was that travesty inspired you because? Because I found this book and The Purpose of the Prince of Peace and the Will of God in my life, I responded to the revelations in the early 1970s on Kauai when the Hawaiian sovereignty movement first got started.
26:02
I was in Kauai having the Religion of Jesus Church Divinity School where every day we read this book and people were coming in from all over the world and discovering it and reading it with us and so forth.
26:20
you saw that the kingdom of Hawaii was the perfect place that surely God could house the kingdom of heaven. Well, I didn’t know what I was… I didn’t realize at that time how I had been all my life pulled by the nose, so to speak, with the spirit of truth. I didn’t realize. But in 1957, I got married to a lady out here on Oahu. And…
26:50
She didn’t know it, and I didn’t know it, her mom didn’t know it, but I discovered as a consequence of going to a meeting on Kauai in January of 1973, where there was a discussion of the Hawaiian sovereignty movement and the political history of Hawaii, which I heard for the first time.
27:13
And one of the speakers revealed the fact that Queen Lili’uokalani had written a book called Hawaii’s Story by Hawaii’s Queen. And so I got a copy of that book. It had been out of print, but somebody had found it back in Washington Library of Congress and had it republished. So I got a copy of that book and I read it.
27:39
And I discovered the fact that my wife’s great-grandfather was the first Harvard-educated Attorney General for the Kingdom of Hawaii under King Kamehameha. And his name was A.S. Hartwell. And then in 1893, in the times of the overthrow,
28:07
He became the lawyer. Unfortunately, when I read the Queen’s story, I discovered a big, dirty skeleton in the closet of my family and relatives’ history.
28:21
Your wife’s family. My wife’s family’s history. That she was… I get it. So now I understand. That is… I’m just going to see if I can clarify. That you came out here to Hawaii. You met a girl. You married her. Then you read this book. And you said, I just married this relation who in 1893 was the…
28:50
attorney for the kingdom. And he’s the one that drafted the document that turned over the keys to the kingdom. Wow. So you discovered that your wife’s relative turned over the keys to the kingdom. He was the attorney when they turned over the keys to the kingdom. The conspirators that overthrew the government
29:18
They used A.S. Hartwell as their legal spokesman. He then became the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of the new government, the new illegal government, and is on the wall of the Supreme Court over in Honolulu. Picture. So he was very instrumental in the overthrow. He committed treason, basically.
29:48
by his action because he had been an attorney general for the king he was well known what happened to the queen? the queen was imprisoned for the rest of her life they imprisoned her in her palace not for the rest of her life they cut her loose after I forget how many years and then she went back to Washington D.C. in 1897 spent about a year or so
30:16
filed her official protest, and they overthrew her, and so forth. I see. And that was the thing you were talking about earlier. Her book. Her book. So to know the truth about the history of Hawaii. How did Hawaii come to be part of the United States government? It’s a story of
30:39
Sin, iniquity, and rebelliousness. Wholesale deceit and fraud and theft and murder and treason. So how does that relate to this book and the Kingdom of Heaven? Because to me that’s what I’m looking at. I know that we recognize, you know, that’s what we were sharing one time, I remember. Here we are in a world 2,000 years after the life and teachings, after the life and death of Jesus.
31:04
and we’re on the precipice of group destruction if we keep going the same direction without regard for the consequences. Well, there was a song written, if you’re ever going to see a rainbow, you’ve got to stand a little rain. I think maybe that’s what this is. This is now, we’ve had 2,000 years of
31:28
You know, doing it the wrong way. So here we are. We’re at the perfect time. We’re just changing, you know, the end of the Mayan calendar. Everyone talks about that. It’s like a mid-course direction. It’s like, okay, Captain, I think we need to go three degrees this way. Yeah, we’ll… Okay. Yeah. Wow. Yeah. So, you know, the consequences of the overthrow that came of Ahoy…
31:58
created a problem for everybody in Hawaii. And was another stain on the American, the record of American political evolutionary history. They were colonialists like the British were. They just followed what they did before. So here we are in a world very divided today. And in the…
32:27
the passage of Public Law 103-150, which enabled the Hawaiians to reinstate their lawful government, I see Public Law 103-150 as the outworking of a spirit of truth in the lives of the politicians who framed it, because they had to admit all the facts in order to cover the ground necessary for them to get legal jurisdiction, which they don’t have.
32:57
So, by the Hawaiians bringing up and reinstating their lawful government, they did so in partnership with the Prince of Peace through his spirit of truth.
33:12
You see the spirit of truth guiding the direction of man, so to speak, without man even knowing it’s happening. I didn’t know I was being led all my life to get to where we’re sitting here today. And so the reinstatement of the government was made possible through the…
33:35
ruling of the creator of our universe in favor of the Queen. So clearly the creator of the universe has a purpose for that and it has to do with establishing peace on earth and good will among men in our lifetime before we destroy ourselves and the planet.
33:59
This book became an essential part of the mission to rescue us from ourselves and the outworking of all the bad things that evolved out of the decision of the few people to take over the world.
34:18
God has intervened in such a way as to provide us with the knowledge and information it takes for us to understand and comprehend the problem and then minister to the solution thereof. Well, it sounds like, listen to me how I’m thinking about this, what you just said about the taking over the world, it’s like this pinpoint in time where
34:41
The apology that was accepted, that was given by the United States, which gave the government of Hawaii… It was given by the Queen.
34:52
The apology was given by the United States to the Queen. And because that was the mission of the Prince of Peace, and that that was part of the spirit of truth, that necessarily in physical form, at this time in history, it’s like the launching, if you will, the birthing of the kingdom of heaven on earth itself.
35:17
in the Kingdom of Hawaii. That’s how it links. Yes, the reinstatement of. The reinstatement of the Kingdom of Heaven on Earth. Of what the Prince of Peace started when he was here. And it failed. Isn’t that exciting? That’s exciting. It failed at that point, but it can’t fail now because our survival depends on it. Our very survival depends on it. Yeah, exactly. Wow. As a planetary whole.
35:41
You know, I know that we’re just scratching the surface every time we jump into this book. You know what I’d like to think? I would like to think there are audience, and our audience would look up Urantia, U-R-A-N-T-I-A dot org, and see that this book is online. What paper were you using here today? Paper 140. Paper 140. And it was the ordination of the Twelve. Yeah.
36:06
196 papers. That’s not an indefinite number. That’s very definite. 196. So now this ordination of the 12 apostles is phenomenal because, well, shall I read a little bit? Sure, sure, sure.
36:29
He says, Now that you are ambassadors of my Father’s kingdom, you have thereby become a class of men separate and distinct from all other men on earth. You are not now as men among men, but as the enlightened citizens of another and heavenly country among the ignorant creatures of this dark world.
36:48
It is not enough that you live as you were before this hour, but henceforth must you live as those who have tasted the glories of a better life and have been sent back to Earth as ambassadors of the sovereign of that new and better world. What a very nice thing. What a wonderful responsibility. So we’re at the dawn of that age now. I feel very, very fortunate to have an opportunity to sit here and share this with you. And share this with you. Everybody.
37:16
You know, you’ve dedicated numbers of years to understanding and appreciating this book, Jim. I’ve enjoyed it for 43 years. I’ve enjoyed it 43 years. Of the teacher, more is expected than of the pupil. Of the master, more is exacted than of the servant. Of the citizens of the heavenly kingdom, more is required than of the citizens of the earthly rule. Some of the things which I am about to say to you may seem hard,
37:45
But you have elected to represent me in the world, even as I now represent the Father. And as my agents on earth, you will be obligated to abide by those teachings and practices which are reflective of my ideals of mortal living on the worlds of space, and which I exemplify in my earth life of revealing the Father who is in heaven.
38:12
I send you forth to proclaim liberty to the spiritual captives, joy to those in the bondage of fear, and to heal the sick in accordance with the will of my Father in heaven. When you find my children in distress, speak encouragingly to them, saying, Happy are the poor in spirit, the humble, for theirs are the treasures of the kingdom of heaven. Happy are they who hunger and thirst for righteousness.
38:42
for they shall be filled. Happier the meek, for they shall inherit the earth. Happier the pure in heart, for they shall see God. And even so speak to my children these further words of spiritual comfort and promise. Happier they who mourn, for they shall be comforted. Happier they who weep, for they shall receive the spirit of rejoicing
39:14
Happier are the merciful, for they shall obtain mercy. Happier are the peacemakers, for they shall be called the sons of God. Happier are they who are persecuted for righteousness’ sake, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Happier are you when men shall revile you and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely. Rejoice and be exceedingly glad, for great is your reward in heaven.
39:44
That doesn’t mean to me, that doesn’t mean to go out there and try to become the point of ridicule. That means to just be in your truth and know that you will be rewarded through that. I always wonder when people hear these words, when you brought that up, that point, I thought of the people that
40:11
stand on that, thinking like, we’re going to get persecuted, we’re going to be out there in your face, we’re going to be nasty in your face. No, you don’t have to be that way. Just be aware that you can be true to yourself. It’s an inward game. Exactly.
40:27
My brethren, as I send you forth, you are the salt of the earth, salt with a saving savour. But if this salt has lost its savour, wherewith shall it be salted? It is henceforth good for nothing but to be cast out and trodden under foot of men. You are the light of the world. A city set upon a hill cannot be hid. Neither do men light a candle and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick.
40:56
and it gives light to all who are in the house let your light so shine before men that they may see your good works and be led to glorify your father who is in heaven i am sending you out into the world to represent me and to act as ambassadors of my father’s kingdom and as you go forth to proclaim the glad tidings put your trust in the father whose messengers you are
41:22
Do not forcibly resist injustice. Put not your trust in the arm of the flesh. If your neighbor smites you on the right cheek, turn to him the other also. Be willing to suffer injustice rather than to go to law among yourselves. In kindness and with mercy minister to all who are in distress and in need.
41:47
I say to you, love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, and pray for those who despitefully use you. And whatsoever you believe that I would do to men, do you also to them. Well, that’s, you know…
42:12
I’ve heard that before, obviously, from other things. The essence of the golden rule. It is the essence of the golden rule. He’s the author of it. Yeah.
42:24
I think there’s no question, as I’m reading here, I’m thinking to myself, again, this is the interesting book, the Urantia book, for everyone, but for the Christians, especially. They need it so badly. They would love it so much, they would just become… And I say to that,
42:44
They may need it badly. Some of them say, I don’t need it badly. Some of them say, I want to read it. That’s what I think is really exciting. And I’m really excited that at the level that when we, very soon we’re going to have question and answer. And this question and answer is going to be with you and we’re going to be doing it live calling. So it’s just a matter of finding the right time slot and crew and sponsors in whatever way. You’re welcome. Please contact us. But the fact that
43:15
Right now, I think we have an audience out there, this is our 10th show, hungry to ask questions and hungry to express themselves, whether they be guests on our show on live, over a phone, or however we’ll get them. But I think that’s the two ways, live or over the phone. So we hope that all of you out there that want to be on our show, I mean, I think you mentioned one guy in the last show, a reverend,
43:44
We’d like to have him, and I know that there are all kinds of people out there that probably… See, what I like about what we’re doing is we come from a place of peace and inclusiveness. And so we’re not looking to defend. We’re looking to share and…
44:01
give information as it’s received and if people have thoughts and comments that’s the foundation for great great expository and hopefully in this year 2013 we’ll have more and more people reaching out I think so and reaching out it’s getting worse and worse to be finding
44:26
not finding the truth. You know, when people want to go into Christianity and think it’s going to save them from something, I think the more we are more of who we are in the spirit of truth, the more the universe will conform to the spirit of truth in a positive, I believe, in a positive way because of our knowingness and our peace within.
44:52
If we learn to love ourselves and one another as God loves each of us, we’ll have heaven on earth supremely. I think that’s a good place to end this on, new beginnings. Thank you for joining us today. I think that this was a lot of fun. Thank you. It was good. I appreciate it. And I think we learned some new things. I’m learning every time.
45:16
And when you see the call-in shows, you might in fact ask and see if you can get it sooner than later. We want your input. Right on. Thank you, Jim, again. It’s always a pleasure. Indeed. It really is. And thank you for joining us. Look forward to seeing you again soon. Much aloha. Aloha.
